Bangladesh Coast Guard has arrested two notorious drug smugglers with Yaba and cannabis worth about Tk 251,000 in Mongla in a joint operation
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-Ul-Haq provided this information on Tuesday.
The press release stated that based on confidential information, a special operation was conducted on 19 August 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Mongla Port Madrassa adjacent area under Mongla Thana of Bagerhat District, led by the Coast Guard Base Mongla in coordination with the Navy and Police. During the operation, a house in the mentioned area was searched, and approximately 251,000 Taka worth of 1 kg of cannabis and 437 pieces of Yaba were seized, along with the arrest of two notorious drug traffickers.
The arrested individuals, Md. Bellal Hossain (40) and Md. Sagir Hossain (52), are residents of Mongla Sadar in Bagerhat District.
The process for taking subsequent legal action regarding the seized narcotics and the arrested suspects is underway.
He further added that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent drug trafficking.
