115th birth anniversary of legendary dhol player Binaybashi Jaldas on Oct 1

A daylong program featuring discussions and cultural events will be held on Thursday, October 1, to mark the 115th birth anniversary of Ekushey Padak-winning dhol maestro Binaybashi Jaldas.
Organized by Binaybashi Shilpi Gosthi, the event will take place at the artist’s ancestral home in Chhandariya village, Boalkhali.
The program begins in the morning with flower offerings at his portrait and grave. Afternoon activities starting at 3:00 PM include opening dhol performances, a music session, cake cutting at 4:40 PM, and a discussion meeting at 5:00 PM. A solo performance by BTV artist Bidhan Das and a general cultural show will follow in the evening.
Organizers, including the artist's son Babul Jaldas, invited cultural enthusiasts to join in honoring the late legend's lasting contribution to South Asian folk music.
