Raozan (Chattogram) Correspondent

In response to a press conference arranged by BNP leader Golam Akbar Khondoker, where he allegedly spread false and fabricated information against BNP’s central Vice Chairman Alhaj Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury,  Raozan Brick Field Owners Association and Raozan Ideal Timber Traders Association jointly held a press conference on Monday  afternoon at the association’s office.

Speakers at the press conference included Rezaur Rahim Azam, President of Raozan Ideal Timber Traders Association and former councilor, and Syed Hossain Company, President of Raozan Brick Field Owners Association. Among others present were Forkan Uddin Member (General Secretary, Brick Field Association), Ikhtiar Uddin Member (General Secretary, Timber Association), Vice Presidents Russell Khan, Saifuddin Ribon, Nizam Uddin Sujon, Treasurer Munna Talukder, and members Idris Saudagar, Harun Saudagar, Didar Alam, Abdul Matin Raju, Md. Mohiuddin, Abu Bakkar Chowdhury, Abdul Khalek Company, Selim Uddin, and Saifuddin Ribon.

During the press conference, it was stated that although Golam Akbar Khondoker holds a responsible position in the North District BNP, he is creating confusion by presenting unethical information about the respected public leader Alhaj Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury. The speakers asserted that Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury is a prominent and beloved leader, and spreading false information against him is unjustified and unacceptable.

The presidents of both associations urged the public to rely on accurate facts. In the conference, Syed Hossain Company mentioned that there are currently 24 operational brick kilns in Raozan. “We don’t know where Golam Akbar Khondoker got the number of 38 brick fields from,” he said. He added, “His claim in the press conference that Tk. 300,000 in extortion was collected from each of the 38 brick fields is completely false and fabricated. No extortion money has been paid from any of our brick fields.”

The leaders of the Brick Field Association strongly condemned and protested the false statements made by Golam Akbar Khondoker in his press conference.
