Banned Chhatra League's sudden procession in Kuakata, 19 people including 14 children detained

Police have arrested 19 people, including 14 children, on charges of holding a protest march under the banner of the banned Bangladesh Awami League and its affiliate Chhatra League in Kuakata, Patuakhali. A case has been registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Mahipur Police Station in this incident.
The incident took place in front of the Hotel 'President Park' in the South Kuakata area of Ward No. 3 of Kuakata Municipality on Tuesday morning.
According to Mahipur Police Station sources, at around 4:15 am on Tuesday, leaders and activists of the banned organization took out a sudden procession with banners on the paved road of the embankment in front of the Kuakata Municipality-run Hotel President Park. Upon receiving the news, Mahipur Police Station SI (Unarmed) Md. Abul Kalam Azad quickly reached the spot along with his officers and forces. Sensing the presence of the police, the marchers tried to flee in all directions, and 19 people were arrested. At that time, 30/35 unidentified people, including 4 more, escaped.
Police said that 14 of those arrested include children involved in conflict with the law. In addition, a banner with a controversial slogan and 15 black masks were seized from the custody of the arrested accused Abul Kalam Khan (19). The seized banner read “Ban on Bangladesh Awami League and Bangladesh Chhatra League and the black law of illegal tribunals must be withdrawn” (Courtesy: Md. In this incident, SI (Unarmed) Md. Abul Kalam Azad filed a case (No. 19) under Sections 8/9/10/12/13 of the Anti-Terrorism Act-2009 (Amendment-2013) at Mahipur Police Station as the plaintiff.
OC office Mahipur Police Station Md. Shamim Hawlader said, "The arrested adult accused and children involved in conflict with the law were handed over to the learned court after due legal process on Tuesday evening. Police operations are continuing to arrest the other absconding individuals."
