Coast Guard has conducted rescue operation to recover missing passengers after collision between passenger boat, ferry at Khulna Jail Ferry Ghat
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq informed this on Friday noon.
The press release said that on Thursday night, at around 10:00 PM, a passenger boat and a ferry collided head-on at the Khulna Jail Ferry Ghat area. According to Coast Guard reports, among the 30–35 passengers on the boat, a total of 3 people one man, one woman, and one child—went missing in the accident.
Based on the received information, a special rescue team of 18 members from Bangladesh Coast Guard Station Rupsha conducted an overnight operation in the Rupsha River. However, due to darkness and strong currents, it was not possible to rescue the missing persons. Later, at 7:00 AM on Friday the Coast Guard rescue team resumed the operation. Bangladesh Coast Guard is continuing tireless efforts to rescue the missing passengers.
The press release further said that in any accident or disaster situation, Bangladesh Coast Guard always works for the welfare of the country and its people and will continue to do so in the future.
