Dr Shafiqur Rahman in Rangour : We will implement people’s mandate thru' referendum, bring end to fascism

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Opposition Leader in the National Parliament, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “The government has broken the promise of the July Revolution, which was achieved at the cost of the blood of thousands of martyrs. We will not be dishonest with the nation. We will implement people’s mandate through referendums and bring an end to fascism In Sha Allah.”

He said this in his speech as the chief guest in the presence of lakhs of people at the Rangpur Divisional Grand Meeting organized by the 11-party alliance at the Rangpur Zilla School Ground on the rainy afternoon on Saturday in the presence of lakhs of people, demanding the implementation of the referendum, effective measures to implement the Teesta Master Plan, stopping border killings and push-ins, and alleviating the suffering of the people. Nahid Islam, Chief Whip of the Opposition in the Parliament and Convener of NCP presided over the gathering.

The special guests who addressed the gathering were Colonel (Retd) Dr. Oli Ahmed Bir Bikram, President of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Maulana Jalal Uddin, Secretary General of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, Maulana Abdul Qayyum Sobhani, Acting President of Bangladesh Nejam-e-Islam Party, Dr. Mostafizur Rahman Iran, Chairman of Bangladesh Labour Party, Akhtar Hossain, MP for Rangpur-4 Kaunia-Pirgachha constituency and Member Secretary of NCP, Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, General Secretary of Amar Bangladesh Party AB Party, Maulana Abdul Halim, Central Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami and Regional Director of Rangpur-Dinajpur Region, Rashed Pradhan, Vice President and Spokesperson of Jatiya Gonatantrik Party Jagpa, Adv Anwarul Islam Chan, Chairman of Bangladesh Development Party, Jamaat-e-Islami and Assistant Regional Director of Rangpur-Dinajpur Region. Director Principal Maulana Momtaz Uddin, Jamaat Central Working Committee Member and Rangpur-Dinajpur Regional Team Member and Rangpur-3 Sadar Constituency MP Prof Mahbubur Rahman Belal, Central Working Committee Member and Rangpur Metro Ameer Vice-Principal Maulana ATM Azam Khan, Central Majlish-e-Shura Member Rangpur District Ameer and Rangpur-5 Mithapukur Constituency MP Prof Golam Rabbani, Gaibandha District Ameer and Gaibandha-2 Sadar Constituency MP Mohammad Abdul Karim Sarkar, Rangpur Metro Assistant Secretary and Rangpur-1 Gangachara Constituency MP Professor Maulana Raihan Siraji, Kurigram-2 Sadar-Rajarhat-Phulbari Constituency MP Dr. Atiqur Rahman Mojahid, NCP Central Joint Convener, Kurigram-3 Ulipur Constituency MP Barrister Mahbubul Alam Salehi, Jamaat Central Working Committee Member and Dhaka Metro.South Assistant Secretary Mohammad Delwar Hossain, Bangladesh Labour Party Central Joint Secretary Mohammad Wasim, and other central and Rangpur divisional and district and metropolitan leaders of 11 parties spoke, among others.

Speaking as the chief guest Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "Just as rain and bullets could not disturb or weaken you, similarly, none of us will return home, as steel is strong and firm, until the fruits of the July Revolution are harvested, Insha Allah."

He expressed his anger and said, "Push in and border killings are being played on our neighboring borders. The BGB and the people are bravely confronting them. The BNP government is digesting all this with a closed mouth.

He said, "We do not want to see any excuse on the implementation of the Teesta Master Plan. We want to see its successful implementation.

Despite the heavy rain, a large number of people from the different districts of Rangpur division attended this grand rally.
