
Forest guards arrest two while carrying deer venison on bus from Sundarbans

Deer venison was being transported on a passenger bus to Dhaka on Thursday morning.
Forest guards of the Sharankhola range caught two individuals red-handed with the meat at Baburhat in Mathbaria. The arrested were produced in Bagerhat court on Thursday afternoon.
Based on secret information, forest guards under the leadership of Forester Asaduzzaman, officer in charge of the special patrol post at Gyanpara of Sharankhola range, stopped the Rajib Transport bus (Dhaka Metro-B-15-7431) around 7:30 am on July 17 at Baburhat market during patrol. Upon searching the side box of the bus, they found a packet containing 10 kilograms of frozen deer meat and arrested two men on the spot. The arrested are Abdul Salam (40), son of Jonab Ali from Kochua, Bagerhat, and Md. Zakaria (25), son of Md. Barek from Chotopari village, Morrelganj. They were taken to the Sharankhola range headquarters after the arrest.
Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, DFO , Bagerhat, said that the accused had hunted deer in the Sundarbans and were transporting the meat by bus to Dhaka. A case has been filed against them, and the two accused were produced in Bagerhat court on Thursday afternoon.
