Integrated land complex in Savar to bring all services under one roof: Land Secretary

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land, A S M Saleh Ahmed, said that the proposed Integrated Upazila Land Complex in Savar will bring crucial land-related services under one roof, significantly reducing hassle for the general public.
Inspecting the proposed site adjacent to the Dhaka-Aricha highway on Tuesday morning, the secretary confirmed that the project has already received approval from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).
Once completed, the complex will house both the Upazila Land Office and the Upazila Settlement Office, enabling citizens to access land surveys, mutations, and other essential services from a single point.
Following the site inspection, the land secretary visited the Savar Upazila Land Office and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer’s office, expressing satisfaction with the timely attendance of the officials and staff. During the review, the local Assistant Commissioner (Land) briefed the secretary that 100 percent of the general demand for land development tax has already been successfully realized. Ahmed strictly instructed the officials to ensure smooth service delivery and warned against any form of public harassment during mutation and other procedures.
Ahmed also monitored the ongoing digitization efforts, specifically the data entry for holdings and khatians (land record ledgers), alongside the error-correction system. He revealed that the Ministry of Land, in partnership with UNDP Bangladesh, has launched a comprehensive initiative to achieve 100 percent data entry and error correction within the automated land service system.
Following a successful pilot program in eight districts, data entry is currently progressing in Dhaka, Gazipur, and Narayanganj districts, with plans to roll out the system nationwide in phases. .
Later, he inspected the Aminbazar Upazila Land Office to review its field-level operations.
The local Assistant Commissioner (Land) informed him that 88 percent of the general land development tax demand has been recovered so far.
