Kishoreganj Pourashava’s budget: Civic Amenities, urban dev get top priority

A new budget of approximately Tk 75 crore has been announced for Kishoreganj Pourashava for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, giving the highest priority to infrastructure development and civic services.

On Monday noon, Zebun Nahar Shammi, Local Government Deputy Director and Pourashava Administrator, officially presented the budget at a function organized at the Pourashava auditorium. The total size of the proposed budget has been fixed at Tk 74,94,33,786. Against the income, the total expenditure in the budget is estimated at Tk 73,09,60,062, showing an overall surplus of Tk 1,84,72,724.

The income and expenditure sectors of the proposed budget have been specifically structured. Out of income sectors, Tk 35,02,98,913 has been estimated in the revenue sector, Tk 5,06,56,222 in the water supply sector, Tk 7,12,58,515 in the development sector (combining govt grants and revenue), Tk 25,27,59,135 in the project sector, and Tk 2,44,61,000 in the capital sector. On the other hand, as expenditure allocations, Tk 33,29,00,000 has been earmarked for the revenue sector, Tk 5,06,15,530 for the water supply sector, Tk 7,09,60,532 for the development sector, Tk 25,25,35,000 for the project sector, and Tk 2,39,50,000 for the capital sector.

Pourashava Administrator Zebun Nahar Shammi stated that the highest importance has been given to improving the quality of civic services in this budget. Particular emphasis has been placed on urban infrastructure development, construction of a multi-storied Pourashava Super Market, construction and renovation of drains and roads, safe water supply, and waste collection and disposal.

The budget announcement ceremony was attended by Pourashava Executive Officer Syed Shafiqur Rahman, Pourashava Executive Engineer Rafiqul Islam, and Accounts Officer Sirajul Islam. Also present as ward-in-charge councilors were Deputy Director of the District Agricultural Extension Department Dr. Sadikur Rahman, Executive Engineer of LGED Enayet Kabir, Executive Engineer of Public Works Department Md. Mohiuddin Jahangir, Executive Engineer of DPHE Mahbubur Rahman, and District Primary Education Officer Md. Shafiqul Islam, among other dignitaries from various professions.
