Madan Municipality unveils Tk 44.98 cr budget with no new tax

Madan Municipality Administrator and UNO, Waliduzzaman, announced a Tk 44.98 crore (Tk 449,848,369) revenue and development budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year on Monday afternoon, with no new taxes imposed on citizens.
The budget allocates Tk 438,167,000 for urban management and infrastructure development projects, with a projected surplus of Tk 11,681,369.
Priorities in this budget include the construction and development of roads, drainage systems, bridges, culverts, ensuring safe drinking water supply, installation of tube wells, public toilets, and street lighting.
Following the budget declaration, a brief open discussion was held with the presence of municipal citizens. Attendees included Upazila Youth Development Officer Abdul Ahad, Academy Supervisor Joshna Akter, Upazila Primary Education Officer Saida Robayet, Municipal Executive Officer Jahangir Alam, and Municipal Assistant Engineer Md. Jamil Hossain.
Journalists from various print and electronic media outlets, representatives of civil society, and citizens from different wards of Madan Municipality were also present.
