Madrasa students formed a  human chain in the grounds of Shahanshah Haque Bhandari Sunnia Dakhil Madrasa  demanding release of 7th grade  abducted student Md Sohel  in Ghorkhana of the upazila on Wednesday morning. 

 The madrasa teachers and guardians also participated in it.

The human chain was chaired by the acting superintendent of the madrasa, Maulana Lokman Hossain, and moderated by assistant teacher Abdur Rashid. The maternal grandfather of the abducted Sohel and the vice-president of the madrasa management committee, Abdul Jabbar, assistant maulvi Md.  Alauddin, Abu Bakkar Siddique and student Md. Shafiul Bashar.

At this time, the speakers said, 'Identified criminals called Md. Sohel from his house, kidnapped him and handed him over to the terrorists. Although the administration arrested some people involved in this incident, no trace of him has been found so far.' They demanded that the kidnapped Md. Sohel be returned unharmed and exemplary punishment be given to those involved in the kidnapping.

Earlier, on the night of July 4, Md. Sohel (14), father- Abdul Jalil, village Sohel, Thana-Manikchhari, district-Khagrachari, went missing on his way back to his house in the Chadurkhil area of Batnatli Union No. 2 under Manikchhari Upazila.

 Later, unknown persons called Sohel's maternal number and demanded a ransom of Tk 5 lakh.  After this incident, on July 11, Sohel's grandfather Abdur Rahim Prakash Gafur Ansar filed a kidnapping case, naming 5 people for kidnapping and aiding in the crime of ransom, and the Joint Bahini arrested 3 people involved in the incident with the help of technology.

The detainees are Sambu Kumar Tripura (36) of Kasmakarbari Para, and Md. Main Uddin (21) and Md. Yasin Mia (28) of Gorkhana area. During the initial interrogation, the detainees admitted their involvement in the kidnapping, but could not identify the abductee. They were sent to the learned court on Saturday (July 12) afternoon.

Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan Rubel, OC of Manikchhari Police Station, confirmed the arrest and said, "The police are investigating whether anyone else is involved in this incident."
