The name of the star inspired by patriotism is heroic freedom fighter Nurul Islam Babul.Trough the establishment of the daily Jugantor newspaper, he brought the image of Bangladesh—from the capital to cities, towns, and remote rural areas—before the world.
As the founder of the Jamuna Group, the visionary behind Jugantor and the private television channel Jamuna TV, Nurul Islam Babul established one industrial venture after another across the country without any bank loans, creating employment for hundreds of thousands of people.
Speakers made these remarks at a memorial and prayer meeting organized by Jugantor Swajan Samabesh in Tahirpur, Sunamganj, on the occasion of the fifth death anniversary of the late Chairman of Jamuna Group, Nurul Islam Babul.
On Wednesday afternoon, at the Jugantor Swajan Samabesh office on College Road in Badaghat, Tahirpur, the discussion was presided over by Shihab Sarwar Shipu, photographer of Jugantor/The Country Today and Convener of the Tahirpur Upazila Unit of Jugantor Swajan Samabesh.
The chief guest at the discussion was Tahirpur UNO Md. Abul Hashem.
Special guests included Mufti Ashraful Alam Habibi and M. Salman Ahmad Sujan, among others.
Prayers were offered for the forgiveness and eternal peace of the late Chairman of Jamuna Group, Nurul Islam Babul, the father of Jugantor staff reporter Habib Sarwar Azad, late businessman of a noble family Haji Baid Mia Shah, late mother Haji Shamsunnahar Begum, and all deceased members of the Muslim Ummah. The prayer was led by Hafez Mujahidul Islam, Imam and Khatib of the central mosque in Badaghat.
Among those present at the memorial and prayer gathering were: Hafez Delwar Hossain, Maulana Ali Newaz, Hafez Rafiqul Islam Mudha, Mufti Abdul Wahid, Maulana Tajul Islam, Maulana Taj Uddin, Maulana Foysal Amin, Hafez Ashraful Alam, Maulana Robiul Islam, Hafez Ataur Rahman, social development activist Enam Uddin, Dr. Sirajul Islam Raju, social worker and environmentalist Sarwar Jahan, Miladur Rahman, businessmen Rafiqul Islam Manik and Rafiqul Islam, Shahnoor Mia, freedom fighter’s son Alim Uddin Shah, and people from various professions and relatives of the Swajan Samabesh.
In addition, quality food was served throughout the day to underprivileged families.
