Mufti Muhibbullahil Baqi takes charge as Islamic Foundation DG

Mufti Muhammad Muhibbullahil Baqi Nadvi took charge as the new Director General (Grade-1) of the Islamic Foundation (IFA).

He formally assumed his duties at 3:00 PM on Tuesday succeeding the outgoing director general, Senior District and Sessions Judge Md. Abdul Salam Khan.

Earlier, on May 21, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification appointing Mufti Muhibbullahil Baqi, who has been serving as the Pesh Imam of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, to the top post of the foundation.

According to Islamic Foundation sources, Mufti Muhibbullahil Baqi began his career as the Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on September 4, 1996. He also serves as the general secretary of the Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh and the chairman of the Shariah Board of Standard Bank PLC. Additionally, he is a Shariah expert for several key institutions and serves as a Shaikhul Hadith at various Qawmi madrasas across the country.

After taking charge on Tuesday afternoon, the new director general joined a views-exchange and introductory meeting with officials and employees at the Islamic Foundation's Agargaon office auditorium. During the meeting, Mufti Muhibbullahil Baqi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for appointing him to the position. He stated that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman does not want to use the Islamic Foundation as a political tool, but rather intends to transform it into a more effective and public-oriented institution with the active participation of Islamic scholars, thinkers, and devout people.

The new director general also urged the foundation's staff to maintain a clean working environment, strict discipline, and institutional regulations. Seeking the cooperation of all officials and employees, he expressed his optimism about moving forward with new action plans aimed at the religious and social development of the country.

Apart from the outgoing director general Md. Abdul Salam Khan, the meeting


addressed by SM Tariqul Islam, director of the mosque-based child and mass education project, Hazera Khatun, director of the ICT division, Md. Abdul Hamid Khan, director of finance and accounts, Md. Anisuzzaman Sikder, director of translation and compilation, Dr. Waliur Rahman Khan, director of the zakat fund and research division, and Shah Mohammad Nazrul Islam, deputy director of the Imam Training Academy. Md. Mohiuddin, director of the coordination division, moderated the program, which was attended by directors and employees of all levels.
