Zubaer, Pirojpur

A mass rally was held in the Kalakhali union of Pirojpur Sadar upazila this afternoon to raise public awareness and mobilize a community-driven movement against drug abuse.

Organized under the banner of 'Madak Protirodhe Samajik Udyog' (Social Initiative against Drugs), the event took place at the Pukhuria Secondary School ground.

Presided over by No. 4 Kalakhali Union Parishad Chairman Md. Hedayetul Islam (Mister), Pirojpur Sadar UNO Mamunur Rashid attended the program as the chief guest. Senior journalist and Convener of the initiative Md. Moniruzzaman Nasim Ali was the keynote speaker, while journalist Zubaer Al Mamun moderated the session.

Department of Narcotics Control Inspector Bapon Sen and Sadar Police Station Bit Officer Rezaul Karim spoke as special guests. Local leaders, including the presidents of the union units of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, alongside union parishad members and local elites, also addressed the gathering.

Speakers at the rally highlighted that drug addiction has become one of the most pressing crises threatening the future of the youth. They emphasized that law enforcement efforts alone cannot eradicate the menace; rather, a coordinated approach involving families, educational institutions, social organizations, and the local administration is essential to forge strong social resistance.

UNO Mamunur Rashid reaffirmed the administration's commitment to freeing Kalakhali union from the grip of drugs. He stated that a robust social movement would be forged in partnership with the residents to eventually transform the entire Pirojpur district into a drug-free region through coordinated action plans and intensified anti-drug awareness campaigns.
