Sramik Dal leader beaten to death in Amtali

Md. Ripon Kazi (35), president of Gulishakhali Union Sramik Dal in Amtali, has been allegedly hacked and beaten to death over a family dispute in the Dakshin Bazarghona area of Morichbunia Union in Patuakhali Sadar Upazila.
The incident took place at around 11:30 pm on Tuesday. . The deceased Ripon Kazi is the son of Mizanur Rahman Kazi of Kalibari village in Gulishakhali union of Amtoli upazila of Barguna. He was a farmer by profession.
The deceased's cousin Rajib Kazi alleged that on Tuesday night, while they were returning home on a motorcycle, some people who were waiting from the east in the Dakshin Bazar Ghona area stopped them. At that time, 8-10 people led by Russell Kazi, Rifat Kazi, Sohag Kazi and Rahat Kazi attacked them with sharp weapons and sticks. He escaped by jumping into a nearby canal, but Ripon was seriously injured. Later, with the help of locals, he was taken to Patuakhali General Hospital, where he died at around 2 am.
The victim's mother, Amena Begum, alleged that her son was killed in a planned manner due to a family dispute. She demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the incident. Amtali Upazila Workers' Party President Tariqul Islam Sohag condemned the murder and demanded the immediate arrest and trial of those involved.
Patuakhali Sadar Police Station OC Md. Moniruzzaman said, "Investigation is underway to uncover the real reason for the murder. The operation to identify and arrest those involved is ongoing. Legal action is under process."
