State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, MP, announced plans to clean up Tangail city's prominent recreational spot, DC Lake, and transform it into a modern mini tourist center.

"DC Lake is not just a recreational spot; it is an integral part of Tangail city's beauty and environment. Therefore, everyone must play a responsible role in protecting its cleanliness and aesthetics," the state minister said while speaking to journalists on Friday morning after inaugurating a cleanup drive to remove water hyacinths and garbage to restore the lake's environment.

The state minister stated that the entire DC Lake will be cleaned in phases. There are plans to develop DC Lake into a mini tourist hub and the adjacent char area into a larger tourist destination, with necessary initiatives already underway to achieve this goal. "I recently visited this area along with the Chairman of the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, who inspected both the char area and the DC Lake location," he added.

Recalling his pre-election pledge to build a modern tourist center in Tangail, Tuku noted that work is progressing toward fulfilling that commitment.

Leaders and activists from various BNP affiliate organizations, members of local volunteer groups, and general citizens joined the morning cleanup drive, collectively clearing water hyacinths and debris from different sections of the lake.

The inauguration event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque, former District BNP Member Secretary Mahmudul Haque Sanu, District Juba Dal Convener Khandaker Rashedul Alam, former District BNP Organizational Secretary Shafiqur Rahman Khan Shafiq, Central Juba Dal Member Abdullahil Kafi, and other local BNP and affiliate body leaders.
