
Two fake DB police officers held in Panchbibi

Two individuals impersonating Detective Branch (DB) police officers were apprehended by police at the Chanpara Bazaar in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat on Saturday at Chanpara Bazaar in Aolai Union of the upazila.
According to local sources and Panchbibi Police Station, the two men entered Tanisa Jewellers, a gold shop owned by Mr. Tapas Kumar Pal, and demanded money under the pretense of conducting a search as DB police officers. Local people became suspicious and immediately alerted Panchbibi Police.
Following directives from Joypurhat Superintendent of Police Abdul Ohab, and through the efforts of Panchbibi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moinul Hossain, Sub-Inspector Masum, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sohel, and other police personnel rushed to the scene and detained the two imposters.
The arrested individuals are: Sagar (30), son of Taiyob Sarkar from Kalikapur village under Atrai Police Station in Naogaon district, and Imran (21), son of Golam Mostafa from Jagat Singhpur village in Naogaon Sadar upazila. Both are currently being interrogated at the Joypurhat DB Police office.
Sources say this is not the first such incident—there have been previous reports of individuals impersonating DB police in Panchbibi and extorting large sums of money through fake house raids.
Panchbibi OC Moinul Hossain said, upon receiving the report, police were dispatched immediately and the culprits were arrested. Legal proceedings are currently underway."
