Violent theft by cutting tin canopies in Patnital, businessmen in panic

An incident of robbery took place by cutting the tin canopy of a pesticide shop in Naogaon's Patnitala. At night, there was a robbery at the pesticide shop of M/s Alamin Traders in Shivdighi Bazaar of Matinder Union of the upazila.
The owner of the shop claimed that cash, gold ornaments and various types of pesticides were stolen. This incident has caused panic among other traders in the market.
Shop owner Manik Mia said, after buying and selling like every day, he closed the shop around eight o'clock on Tuesday night and went home. In the morning, local people saw the broken shop and informed him. Later, he quickly came to the shop and found that the thieves first broke the shop wall and failed to enter, then they entered through the tin roof of the shop.
He also said that the thieves took different types of pesticides of Syngenta company, 40 thousand rupees in cash and gold ornaments weighing four annas from the shop. In all, about 7 (seven) lakhs worth of goods were stolen.
Local traders and residents said that the security system in Shivdighi market at night is not sufficient. The incident of such a big theft by cutting the tin of the shop is a cause for concern and panic. Although there were minor thefts in the market earlier, such incidents have created new panic among the traders. They demanded to strengthen the security of the market at night and regular police patrolling.
Rubel Hasan, president and former chairman of Shivdighi Bazar Merchants Association, said that the incident of such heinous theft in the market is really sad. He demanded to increase the police patrolling in the market considering the safety of the traders.
OC of Patnitala Police Station Niamul Haque said that necessary measures will be taken after investigating the theft.
