Woman arrested for allegedly hacking her sleeping husband to death in Magura

Police have arrested Farzana Begum (27) on charges of hacking her sleeping husband Rabbi Mondal (35) to death with a hatchet in Sreepur, Magura. The incident took place on Friday morning in Paschim Rajapur (Mudhapara) village of Amalsar union of the upazila.
The deceased Rabbi Mandal is the son of Nazrul Islam of that village.
According to police and local sources, Farzana Begum stabbed Rabbi Mandal in the neck with a stick while he was sleeping in his house on Friday morning. He died on the spot. Upon receiving the information, the Sreepur police recovered the body.
Police Superintendent Md. Molla Azad Hossain inspected the scene. Later, Farzana Begum was arrested through information technology and intelligence activities. Police said that the blood-stained knife used in the murder was recovered during her arrest around 12 noon on Friday.
During police interrogation, Farzana said that they got married about 10 years ago. They have a five-year-old daughter. There had been a long-standing family feud. She told the police that she hacked her sleeping husband to death because of this.
The district police said that the process of taking legal action in this incident is underway.
