Embracing the slogan “Tourism and Sustainable Development”, World Tourism Day 2025 was celebrated in the country’s top tourist city, Cox’s Bazar, through various programs.
On Saturday at 9:30 am, Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md. Abdul Mannan inaugurated the day’s festivities by releasing pigeons and balloons at Sugandha Point. Following this, a vibrant rally organized by the district administration paraded through the Hotel-Motel Zone and concluded at Laboni Point.
The rally featured horse-drawn carriages, marching bands, and well-decorated tourist police motorbikes. Senior officials from various government departments, tourism sector entrepreneurs and workers, development organizations, school students, and people from different professions took part in the colorful event.
Later, Deputy Commissioner Md. Abdul Mannan inaugurated a beach-cleaning campaign and welcomed tourists at the beach with flowers.
Speaking at a discussion meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said, “Everyone in this district is connected to tourism in one way or another. We are celebrating World Tourism Day with everyone involved in the sector. Our efforts will continue to make Cox’s Bazar’s tourism industry more sustainable and environmentally friendly.”
Ahead of the Tourism Day celebrations and Durga Puja holidays, Tourist Police Cox’s Bazar Region Additional DIG Apel Mahmud assured that comprehensive security measures have been taken for visitors.
He said, “Cox’s Bazar is in a festive mood during this season. We are working to ensure that tourists can enjoy their vacation without any disruptions.”
Meanwhile, on the occasion of Tourism Day, various programs were also arranged at tourism motels and star-rated hotels. Discounts were offered, and the tourist areas were specially decorated.
