
3 more arrested in Shammo murder case : Family expresses satisfaction with DU Administration

Three additional suspects were arrested on Tuesday night in connection with the murder of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a talented student of Dhaka University’s Institute of Education and Research.

The university administration has been actively coordinating with law enforcement agencies to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice. Shammo’s family expressed satisfaction with the administration’s continuous efforts and cooperation in the investigation and related legal processes.
On Wednesday, Shammo’s father, Md. Fakhrul Alam, met with Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to convey this sentiment. Present at the meeting were the university’s Treasurer, Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, and Shammo’s three brothers, S.A.M. Amirul Islam, S.A.M. Shariful Alam, and S.A.M. Shahidul Alam.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan stated that the university administration is working to ensure a fair trial for the incident and remains committed to staying above political influences to expedite justice. He assured that the administration would provide support to Shammo’s family whenever needed and expressed deep condolences, affirming that the university stands by them.
Md. Fakhrul Alam expressed gratitude for the administration’s cooperation in apprehending the culprits and other efforts, hoping that such support would continue.[
