The students of Dhaka University are covered under a health insurance scheme managed by the university authorities. However, due to a lack of clear understanding of the insurance claim process, students have been facing complexities in availing the benefits of health insurance. To address these issues, on May 5, 2025, the university administration made several decisions to bring positive changes to students' healthcare services. Instructions regarding this have already been sent from the Treasurer’s Office to all halls, departments and institutes.

The decisions include health insurance-related instructions will be prominently displayed on the notice boards of every department  It is noted that these instructions have already been uploaded to the central website of Dhaka University to assist students regarding health insurance, a student advisor will be appointed in each department/institute. The student advisor will appropriately inform students about this matter :for first-year undergraduate program students, health insurance-related instructions will be presented during the orientation programs of each department/institute, within the next three months, a workshop will be organized for students of each department/institute to provide clarity on health insurance ; 
students are advised to submit written complaints, along with the recommendation of the student advisor, to the insurance section of the accounts office if they have any grievances related to insurance and  insurance-related instructions will also be uploaded to the websites of all departments/institutes.  

In addition, the university administration has instructed the insurance company to settle insurance claims within seven days and to directly transfer the claim amount to the students’ accounts.
