The Bangladesh Coast Guard has successfully rescued four fishermen alive along with their disabled fishing boat after they spent two days drifting in the deep sea west of Kutubdia. 

Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, the Media Officer of the Bangladesh Coast Guard informed this in a press release  on Friday afternoon. 

According to press relaease  the fishing boat, named 'FB Sourav', had set sail from Cox's Bazar heading towards Sandwip with four fishermen on board. 

However, at around 2:00 PM on Thursday,the boat's engine suffered a mechanical failure, leaving it stranded and drifting helplessly in the deep waters west of Kutubdia. The situation came to light on Friday morning at around 9:00 AM when the distressed fishermen dialed the national emergency helpline 999 to seek urgent assistance, after which the Coast Guard was immediately notified.

Upon receiving the information, a Bangladesh Coast Guard ship deployed on regular sea patrol promptly launched a rescue operation in the designated coordinates. 

The team successfully located and rescued all four fishermen alive, alongside their malfunctioning vessel, and subsequently provided them with primary medical care and other necessary support. The process of handing over the rescued fishermen and the fishing boat to its rightful owners is currently underway.

Highlighting the organization's core mission, Lieutenant Commander Sujon stated that since its inception, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been playing a pivotal role in securing the country's vast maritime and riverine borders.

 Besides,  maintaining law and order, protecting public life and property, and curbing smuggling, narcotics, and human trafficking, the force remains a symbol of safety and trust by conducting vital disaster relief operations and ensuring the absolute security of fishermen at sea. 

 The Coast Guard will continue to execute similar emergency rescue operations in the future, the press release added.
