Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam, MP, has called upon four key sectors travel, tourism, aviation, and hospitality to work in an integrated manner to elevate the country's tourism industry to international standards.

The minister made the call while addressing the launching ceremony of the Travel and Tourism Development Center as the chief guest at Hotel InterContinental in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking at the event, the minister stated that under the guidance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is actively working to bring the country's tourism sector up to international standards. She noted that achieving this objective requires the collective participation of stakeholders across the travel, tourism, aviation, and hospitality sectors, emphasizing that the newly launched platform will serve as an effective medium for joint collaboration.

Highlighting the economic potential of the industry, the minister stated that tourism currently contributes nearly 3 percent to the nation's GDP, and the government aims to increase this share to 6-7 percent.

She underscored the need for private sector stakeholders to play an active and coordinated role in ensuring the sustainable development of the tourism industry, assuring that the government remains prepared to provide necessary policy support and assistance.

Leaders of the tourism industry, relevant stakeholders, and invited guests attended the program.
