An attack occurred during a mass outreach and roadside rally organized by Jamaat-e-Islami in Araihazar, Narayanganj, leaving at least five people injured. Two of the injured were hospitalized, and one of them has been identified as Mahbub. Jamaat members have accused local BNP activists of carrying out the attack.

The incident took place on Saturday (June 14) afternoon in the Gohordi Badshar Bari area of Mahmudpur Union, Araihazar.

According to sources, around 3 PM, Jamaat-e-Islami activists were conducting a mass outreach program in the Gohordi area. At one point, local BNP members attempted to disrupt the event. A verbal dispute escalated into physical violence.

Former Amir of the Upazila Jamaat, Motahar Hossain, stated that the attack was led by local BNP leaders Shahjahan Shikari and Yusuf Shikari. At least five individuals were injured in the attack, and two were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Elias Molla, Jamaat's nominated candidate for the Araihazar constituency, claimed the attack was unprovoked and demanded immediate justice for those responsible.

Attempts to contact Shahjahan Shikari via phone were unsuccessful.

Araihazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khondokar Nasir Uddin confirmed that police were dispatched to the scene and that the situation is now under control. He stated that appropriate action will be taken if a formal complaint is received.
