Baheer Ali’s body found intact even after 25 years of burial

In Chilmari of Kurigram, a body buried 25 years ago has been found intact while digging behind a local madrasa.
Local resident Liton Mia confirmed the recovery of the body on Saturday, 14 June.
According to locals, the incident occurred around noon on Saturday (14 June) in Fakirer Hat area of Raniganj Union under the upazila, while digging soil for construction work at Fakirer Hat Hafizia Alim Madrasa.
They reported that, during excavation for the construction of a building for the madrasa funded by the government, a portion of the land collapsed, revealing part of a white cloth. On noticing this, villagers came to the spot and dug out the area, uncovering a body wrapped in white cloth. As the news spread, people from nearby areas gathered to see the body.
The locals identified the grave and stated that the deceased was Baheer Ali, son of Atim Sheikh from Kharuar Para village in the same union. He had donated the land to the madrasa and also served as its caretaker. He was known as an honest and pious man. Around 25 years ago, he was buried behind the madrasa.
Following consultation with local Islamic scholars, the body was relocated and reburied beside a mosque at a community graveyard in Fakirer Hat area of Raniganj Union without holding a janaza.
Mamunur Rashid, the Khatib of Chilmari Model Mosque, stated, “From Hadith and the historical events of prophets and messengers, we learn that those who are beloved to Allah and attain martyrdom remain physically preserved. There is a lesson for us in this incident. However, being preserved doesn’t necessarily confirm someone as a beloved servant of Allah—only Allah knows the truth.”
Local resident and husband of female UP member Bedona Begum, Md. Liton Mia, said, “Baheer Ali was buried 25 years ago beside this madrasa. During the construction work of the mosque building, we discovered the body wrapped in white cloth and reburied it.”
