BNP leader summoned for alleged abuse of women, children
This information was confirmed in a press release signed by Patuakhali District BNP President Snehangshu Sarkar Kutty and General Secretary Advocate Md. Mojibur Rahman Toton on Wednesday.
The press release said that the matter has come to the attention of the district BNP based on the allegations raised in the incident and the video circulating on social media. The allegations are serious and objectionable as they constitute moral degradation, moral lapse and activities against organizational discipline. Advocate Hafizur Rahman Chunnu has been ordered to appear in person within the next 24 hours and give a written explanation as to why organizational action will not be taken against him in this incident.
After this order of the district BNP, a wide discussion has started among the local BNP leaders and activists on the issue. Several senior leaders of the party said that he has lost the qualification to be the secretary of the upazila BNP. There is no chance for him to remain as the secretary to protect the image of the party.
Earlier, during the hearing of the case in the open court, BNP Secretary Chunnu slapped the opposing party's appointed lawyer, A'League leader Advocate Nasir Uddin Mahmud, in front of the judge, and during the arbitration between the two parties in the private chamber of the BNP president, Advocate Abul Bashar, in front of the BNP president.
