Border road, polder project along Naf River will be completed in public interest: Anee

Water Resources Minister Shohid Uddin Chowdhury Anee, MP, stated that the rehabilitation of border roads and polders along the Naf River will be completed prioritizing national and public interests, border security, and flood management.
Speaking as the chief guest at an exchange meeting with local beneficiaries at the Teknaf Upazila Parishad Auditorium on Tuesday, the Minister outlined that necessary technical surveys and evaluations will guide the next phases of the Naf River polder rehabilitation project.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Shohid Uddin Chowdhury Anee noted that substantial funds had been allocated to the border road and polder rehabilitation project over time, yet previous allocations and project revisions failed to meet public expectations. He emphasized the necessity of executing the project with local community cooperation, taking into account regional agriculture, livelihoods, security, and environmental sustainability. State Minister Farhad Hossain Azad, MP, and Ukhiya-Teknaf Constituency MP Shahjahan Chowdhury were present at the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by Water Development Board Director General Md. Ruhul Amin, senior officials from the ministry, local political leaders, and public representatives. Discussions focused on the current condition of embankments, project implementation challenges, and localized erosion issues faced by residents along the border area.
