Drug dealer arrested with 15-foot marijuana plant in joint police-BGB operation

An alleged drug dealer has been arrested in a joint operation by the police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the Char Khalishakuri area of Baldia Union in the proposed Kachakata Upazila of Kurigram, along with a 15-foot tall mature cannabis plant and cannabis consumption equipment.
Manju Alam (55) was arrested in a raid conducted at around 9:30 pm. He is the son of the late Nazir Uddin and a resident of Chhanbanda Khalishakuri village in Ward No. 2 of Baldia Union of Kachakata Police Station.
According to the sources, a joint operation by the police and BGB members based on a secret tip-off resulted in the recovery of a mature cannabis plant measuring about 15 feet tall and various cannabis-using equipment from Manju Alam's house. It is alleged that when he tried to escape, he bit the hands of two local youths who came to stop him. Later, the police and BGB members brought him under control and arrested him.
Bhurungamari Circle ASP Muntasir Mamun Moon and BGB Sonahat Company Commander Mr. Subadar Md. Faridul Islam Khan were present in the operation.
