
Two children drown in Jibannagar

Two children drowned while bathing in the river in Jibannagar. The incident occurred at around 12 noon on Sunday while bathing in the Bhairab River in Muktarpur village of the district's upazila.
The deceased are Rimon Hossain (7), son of Md. Sajib Hossain, and Md. Junayed Hossain (7), son of Md. Jewel Mia, of Eidgah Para in the same village.
Sajib Hossain said that after the school holidays, Rimon, Junayed and Rabbi, three friends, went to bathe in the Bhairab River near their house. There was a jute mat there. At one point during the bath, they were playing on the jute mat.
At that time, Rimon fell into the water. When Zubayed went to pick up Rimon, Zubayed also fell into the water. Later, Rabbi quickly went home and told his parents about the incident. On receiving the news, locals including Rabbi's parents reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the two people from the river.
In this regard, Jibannagar Police Station OC Md. Mamun Hossain Biswas said that police were sent to the spot after receiving the information. Further legal action is under process.
