Prominent UK-based businessman, social worker, philanthropist, and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader Helal Chowdhury has been accorded a warm reception upon his arrival in his hometown, Sylhet.

On Sunday morning, hundreds of well-wishers, local residents, and representatives from various socio-cultural and political organizations gathered at the VIP lounge of Sylhet Osmani International Airport to welcome him with floral bouquets and banners.

The reception ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including Sylhet City Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary Shahjanan Ali, Airport Thana Jamaat Emir Shafiqul Islam Mufik, media and environmental activist Habib Sarwar Azad, Ward 5 Jamaat President Abdus Salam, and youth organizer Isha Talukdar, alongside numerous local leaders, student activists, and community elders.

Speaking at the reception, the speakers lauded Helal Chowdhury's ongoing contributions to education, social welfare, and religious institutions in the greater Sylhet region. They praised his philanthropic efforts in standing beside distressed people during times of crisis, noting that despite living abroad, his dedication to his homeland remains unwavering.

In his response, Helal Chowdhury expressed heartfelt gratitude to the attendees and well-wishers. He stated that the pull of his birthplace and the love of the people draw him back repeatedly. Emphasizing his commitment to public service, he noted that bringing a smile to the faces of underprivileged and neglected individuals remains his greatest pursuit.

Addressing broader socio-political concerns, he strongly condemned recent tragic incidents in Sylhet and called for proper investigations and exemplary punishment for those involved. He also underscored the importance of national unity and community welfare, urging all citizens to work collectively from their respective positions to advance the country's socio-economic development.
