Md. Mafiz Uddin Sarker, Rangpur
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Executive Council Member and former Acting Secretary General, living martyr ATM Azharul Islam said, “We got a new Bangladesh in exchange for the blood of hundreds of young martyrs including Rangpur's pride martyr Abu Sayeed.
The nation is grateful to martyr Abu Sayeed and grateful to all the martyrs and injured of the July-August Revolution."
He said this while talking to reporters after visiting the grave of martyr Abu Sayeed in Babanpur village in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur on Friday morning.
ATM Azharul Islam Said, "Abu Sayeed and others selflessly shed their blood, so I was able to be freed from prison after being a victim of oppression for 14 years as a defendant in a false case. Many like me have now achieved freedom from prison. Democracy has got free air today. However, even after giving this blood, the country has not changed much. Therefore, everyone should come forward with patriotism to establish voting rights and democracy." He said that now is the time to build Bangladesh without discrimination. Selflessly shedding one's blood for the country is a rare event in the history of the world.
ATM Azhar also said that the fascist Awami government has killed, imprisoned and oppressed millions of leaders and activists of various political parties, including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. Allah has brought about their downfall in the mass uprising of the students in the 24 Revolution as a result of this oppression. ATM Azharul Islam expressed his gratitude to Allah Almighty and said that the pride of Rangpur, Abu Sayeed, sacrificed his life. In return, the oppressor has fallen. The youth gave their hearts to the welfare of the country and the nation that day. The oppressors have fled the country.
