A worker named Rumman died when a boarding bridge wheel burst at Sylhet Osmani International Airport on Thursday.
Rumman was the son of Md. Moshar Mia of Luchai village, Airport police station, Sylhet.
In this incident, another person named Enamul (25) was injured. Enamul is the son of the late Ayub Ali of Mahal Dig village, Airport police station, Sylhet.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon during routine maintenance.
Sylhet Airport police station OC Syed Anisur Rahman confirmed the matter.
Airport authorities said several workers of the contracting company were repairing the boarding bridge stairs wheel. Suddenly the wheel burst and two workers were seriously injured. The injured were quickly taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Rumman died while undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Sylhet Airport police station OC Syed Anisur Rahman said no damage occurred to any aircraft or structure in the accident. Among the two injured, Rumman died.
Airport director Hafiz Ahmad said both workers were outsourcing employees of airport maintenance.
He said the cause of the accident is being investigated.
