
14 Indian fishermen jailed for illegal entry into Bangladeshi waters at Mongla

Fourteen Indian fishermen detained in Mongla have been sent to jail.
On Monday, police produced them before Bagerhat Magistrate Court-06, which ordered their imprisonment.
Earlier, on Saturday night, the Bangladesh Navy detained an Indian fishing trawler named FB Parmita along with its 14 crew members from the deep sea near the Fairway Buoy adjacent to Mongla Port. They were arrested for illegally entering Bangladesh's maritime boundary in the Bay of Bengal and fishing without authorization.
Mongla Police Station OC Md. Anisur Rahman said, at around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday night, the Navy handed over the Indian trawler and the 14 fishermen to the police station. Later that night, the Navy filed a case against the detained fishermen under Section 25(1) of the Marine Fisheries Act, 2020. On Monday afternoon, they were produced before the Bagerhat Magistrate Court-06, which ordered them to be sent to jail.
