Grabbing over one acre of land owned by disabled Kamal Paul in Narail alleged

Uzzal  Ray, Narail

An allegation has been made that one acre and 10 decimals of land belonging to Kamal Chandra Paul  (70), a disabled man from Guakhola village in Narail Sadar, was fraudulently taken. Having lost his last asset, the elderly Kamal is now nearly insane. The incident of grabbing Kamal Pal’s land through fraud has angered his family members and local residents. Meanwhile, the accused have gone into hiding.

It has been revealed in the complaint that Kamal Chandra Pal is the owner of one acre and 10 decimals of land under plot numbers 4216, 4219, 4220, 4221, 4223, 3871, and 5191 of Afra mouza in Sheikhhati Union of Narail Sadar upazila. Out of greed for the land, Bilash Goswami (36) from neighboring Hatiara village and Nirab Bairagi (35) from Bakri village developed a friendship with childless and disabled Kamal Pal.

By deceiving the elderly Kamal and without the knowledge of his family and relatives, Bilash and Nirab took a power of attorney in their names on June 1 for one acre and 10 decimals of land. Later, Bilash transferred the land via deed to his wife Pia Goldar and Nirab to his wife Sithi Sarkar.

When Kamal Pal realized the matter, he informed the respectable people of the area along with his relatives to get the land back. After the matter became known, Bilash and Nirab promised to return the land to Kamal Pal.

Although they were supposed to return the land through registration on July 27, the day before (July 26), Bilash and Nirab reportedly left their homes with their wives and children and went into hiding.

Kamal Pal said, “Being physically disabled, Bilash and Nirab deceived me and took one acre and 10 decimals of land. I want my land back. I am an immobile man. I cannot walk without the help of others.”

Local residents Bakul Pal, Rupchand Pal, Ashim Biswas, and Renuka Biswas said, “As Kamal Pal has no children, Bilash and Nirab took advantage of his helplessness and fraudulently took his last asset—his land. We demand exemplary punishment for them.”

Former chairman of Sheikhhati Union Parishad, Sardar Oliar Rahman, said, “In the presence of local respected individuals, Bilash and Nirab agreed to return the land to its rightful owner Kamal Pal, but later fled the area. We hope they will return the land to disabled Kamal.”

Meanwhile, as Bilash and Nirab are in hiding, it has not been possible to contact them.
