Photo exhibition at GAU commemorates heroes of July Uprising

In a profoundly moving tribute, Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) on Sunday hosted a poignant photo exhibition commemorating the martyrs of the historic July 2024 Mass Uprising.
The exhibition, held beneath the newly constructed Faculty of Agriculture building, captured the resilience, sacrifice and ultimate victory of a nation that rose in defiance of oppression.
The exhibition featured a powerful array of still images portraying the bravery of the fallen heroes, the harrowing suffering of the wounded and the unyielding spirit of the people during the blood-stained days of July. Also highlighted were the courageous contributions of GAUs students and the passionate support extended by members of the Bangladeshi diaspora around the world.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman, inaugurated the exhibition. In his opening remarks, he stated, These photographs are not just a reflection of history, they are manifestations of our identity, our consciousness and our indomitable courage. The sacrifices of the martyrs inspire us to pursue truth and justice with unwavering resolve. He also urged all citizens to rise above divisions and unite against any form of subversion threatening the nations progress. The exhibition was presided over by Professor Md. Nasimul Bari, Convener of the Exhibition Organizing Sub-Committee. Distinguished attendees included the university's Treasurer, Professor Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad, faculty deans, directors, academic staff, students, the Registrar and administrative personnel. Following the formal addresses, the Vice-Chancellor and other dignitaries toured the exhibition, expressing deep appreciation for both the artistic excellence and historical significance of the displayed works.
The event was conducted by Prof Dr. Mohammed Zia Uddin Kamal, Director (Transport).
In his speech, the Treasurer emphasized the importance of instilling in the next generation a spirit of patriotism, compassion, and commitment to democratic values, inspired by the martyrs' supreme sacrifices.
